The Discovery Expedition of St. Charles, Missouri,

is a nonprofit organization dedicated to rediscovering the

legacy of Lewis and Clark. Each year the Discovery Expedition

reenacts a portion of the original river journey, from Elizabeth,

Pennsylvania, where the keelboat was built in 1803, to

Great Falls, Montana, beyond which the original boats could not proceed.

Below are images from their stop in Huntington, WV.

Members from area reenacting organizations met

the boats as they arrived and spent the weekend presenting

educational programs to the public.

Local re-enactor,Eric Corder who is a member of the

Fort Lee Scouts, was a member of the Lewis and Clark

crew as it traversed the Ohio River Valley.
